I was so upset that I forgot to comment on Jodie, and that is really sad. You take away from a person when you say those kinds of things. How would you feel if she read that? You really are a scum. Actually,you are below scum.

Jodie is a wonderful actress, she is an intelligent person, and a great mother (I am sure of it). Not to mention she is really beautiful. I haven't been a long time fan but I saw her in The Panic Room and well, she got my attention. She must be scared reading this board. A lot of you people are weird (no offense). You all want her to send you e mails or come to your gym or whatever else you decided to use this forum for. Did it ever occur to you that she is a busy woman with a lot to do? Not that she doesn't appreciate our support and all, but I doubt she has time to respond to every individual fan letter.

I wonder if Jody has any spare time to read any of these messages; I imagine she does from time to time out of perhaps some spontaneous or even puerile interest in what the public thinks about her and her work. NEW YORK ,WORLD TRADE CENTER,NOVEMBRE 2001:

Marchant sur le quai d'une station de metro qui m'etait inconnue, je suivais Jamie, insousciante. Elle: "Tu sents cette odeur?" Moi,sentant une odeur persistente mais discrete,inacapable de la nommer ,je lui souris et lui repond oui . Elle: "Ca brule encore . " Je restais un moment interdite comme je percutais que nous etions a Manhattan ,a quelques blocs du site du World Trade Center . Cette nouvelle fit parcourir une onde de malaise en moi ,tandis que la legere odeur se faisait plus lourde ,les evenements auquels elle etait liee transpirant la desolation ,l'horreur et la tristesse . Ma bonne humeur etait drainee vers le sol tandis qu'un lerger poids sur ma poitrine rendait ma respiration plus difficile. A peine sorties de la bouche de metro ,le premier plan qui nous sautait aux yeux etait un camion citerne debordant d'eau passant a travers une route barree, barricadee, gardee par 2 policiers patibulaires. Comme nous longions une rue perpendiculaire, eventree , au macadam dorenavant inexistant pour laisser acces aux dizaines de tuyaux et autres cables enterres, je remarquais la douzaines de barrieres blanches nous en interdisant l'acces. Sur chacun d'eux etaient ecrit: " ne prenez pas de photos s'il vous plait" inscrit aux marqueurs noirs, peut-etre par une main desesperee que cette scene grotesque soit inlassablement capturee sur une image figee. Prenait-on des photos dans un cimetierre? Car c'etait bien ce ce que cet endroit etait devenu :le dernier endroit ou reposait des etres aux corps calcines, aux cendres deposees dans cet endroit incongru sur les reliefs des immeubles. Des etres aux corps enterres sous des tonnes de gravats . Comme nous marchions aveuglement sur un trottoir desormais recouvert d'une charpente, Jamie me montra une eglise, la nommant comme etant la plus vieille de New York, l'eglise de la Trinite, je remarquais les quelques croix fichees dans le sol pour marquer l'emplacement de tombes, renforcant mon impression d'etre dans un cimetierre. Apres quelques metres, ce petit bout de macadam etait lui aussi barre. Un homme en complet veston se tenait la, personne incongrue dans ce decor anarchique. Jamie lui exprimant notre desir de voir la scene du crash, l'homme nous expliqua comment parvenir a 2 points de vue. Nous etant rendu au premier, insatisfaites du manque de desolation s'offrant a nos yeux, d'informations nous permettant de reconstruire une bribe de la scene, ne pouvant contempler ce qui n'etait qu’un vide flagrant entre des buildings serres, nous avons rebrousse chemin jusqu'au deuxieme qui surplombait la scene. Comme nous longions l'eglise par le sud, des gens plantes devant des temoignages de soutien et d'amour sous forme de fleurs, de lettres, de draps couverts de mots et signatures affiches tout au long du trottoir attirerent notre attention, lisant ces messages ecrit de mains humaines face a un evement inexplicable juge inhumain. Au detour d'un bloc, mon corps s'est fige comme l'amas de debris exposait sa blessure purulente a mes yeux ,partageant son horreur insoutenable avec moi, et qu'incredule je regardais cette immonde masse aux formes indescriptibles. Ma vue s'accoutumant, je cherchais a rationaliser la scene identifiant avec difficultes des poutres a ses extremites, les restes d un air conditionneur, tout autre object m'etait impossible a decrire transforme par la force de l' implosion.

Jamie me dit que la tour faisait 130 etages et afin que je puisse me rendre compte de sa hauteur, calcula la hauteur de celle qui se trouvait a notre droite et qui ne totalisait qu' une trentaine d'etages. J'essayais de me souvenir de la majestuosite de cette tour que j avais pu admirer 6 ans auparavant et qui m avait paru etouffante par sa hauteur.Elle avait rapetissit de 120 etages,soufflee par la haine, l'intolerance et l'incomprehension.

Plus loin , j'entendis une mere parlant a son enfant d' un ton docte, patient et desensibilise comme pour rationaliser ce que l'enfant avait vu afin qu' il puisse comprendre mais sans etre trop atteint par l'horreur de ce geste, comme pour l'eloigner de cet acte incomprehensible qualifie d'inhumain, que meme une mere toute puissante se trouvait incapable de comprendre, effrayee par cette incomprehension lointaine qui etait venue la toucher si pres, dans son pays, dans son coeur. Ici aucun cri ,aucun rire. Seules des voix au ton grave ,des moteurs d'appareils photos et des camescopes silencieux .Aucune larme comme si le temps des larmes etait passe. Seuls maintenant restaient ces debris de l'embleme de la reussite, fierte de cette ville et cette baniere menacante: " nous n'oublieront jamais", flottant au vent ,accrochee au building au nord des feux wtc towers,ultime spectateur de ce spectacle desolant.

Incapable de proferer un son je restais silencieuse, incapable de faire emerger une pensee coherente de mes sentiments comme nous marchions vers le Burrito Bar afin d'y deguster leur specialite...un burrito. Laissant la vie continuer comme il se doit.

La finalite se trouvait la, montrer ce dont l'humain est capable a l'enfant pour qu'il n'oublie jamais, mais l'elever du mieux que l'on peut et essayer de poser les jalons du changement dans ce monde afin que l'enfant n'ait pas a souffrir de ce genre de destruction, afin qu'il puisse lui meme reconstruire sur ces ruines afin d'offrir un monde de paix ,d'amour et de comprehension a ses propres enfants. Un ami m'avait demande de dire une priere pour lui si jamais je me rendais sur le site des wtc towers. La seule qui me paraissait juste etait que quelques chose de positif ressorte de cet ultime acte de destruction,que la creation du beau surpasse la preuve de l'aisance et du succes financier. Et je me suis souvenue que des hommes, oubliant de penser a toutes les choses qui pouvaient leur arriver, avaient deja exaucer ma priere en aidant les personnes piegees a l' interieur des tours avant et apres leur effondrement . Alors je priais pour quelque chose de positif sur du long terme et pour le bien de tous.

Aisance financiere, seule norme de succes reconnue aujourd'hui. On dit oui au bonheur. Combien pense a bonheur sans argent? Ainsi ces hommes ont detruit non seulement le succes mais les acteurs de ce succes. Ce n etait pas seulement le meurtre d'un sans abris dans une rue sombre par quelques adolescents desoeuvres sans repere mais un acte de haine commis par un groupe de gens qui se disaient agir sous l'egide de Dieu. Ils haissent ce que nous meme nous regrettons. Ce culte de l'argent et tous ces exces qui nous sautent aux yeux et sur lesquels leur attention s'est concentree. Ils ne voyent que ces gens qui votent pour ce gouvernement aux pouvoirs incroyables. Ils ne voyent ces gens que comme pratiquant du culte de l argent. Ils n'ont pas su voir ces gens qui etaient heureux de partager un bon repas en famille, une partie de golf avec des amis, de vivre des petits bonheurs simples,ces moments de contemplation ou ils pensent " ah que je suis heureux...". Ils n'ont pas vu ces autres qui percoivent la vie comme un champ de bataille ou il faut se battre pour survivre pour se faire une place au soleil ,et si par force de volonte et de travail, ils accedent enfin a la satisfaction materielle ,ils se retrouvent insatisfaits de ce vide de sentiment ,cherchant encore la cle du bonheur qui leur donnera ce sentiment d'accomplissement et de plenitude , ce sentiment de liberte qu'ils ont cherche toute leur vie et qui leur a echappe.

Et ces hommes ont non seulement detruit des vies humaines (qui avait droit de vivre leur bonheur ) mais aussi l'embleme de la realite materielle ,celui qui est le plus familier a ceux qu'ils voulaient toucher, celui qui les remplit de fierte. Ils ont compris ou frapper pour toucher au plus profond de l'etre, pour faire comprendre combien leur sentiment de securite et d'etre intouchable etaient factices.Ces etres avaient trouve une securite relative dans l'argent quand ils ne savaient pas la chercher ailleurs.Ces gens s'etaient cru en securite dans un pays au gouvernement ,aux institutions et autres corporations, surpuissants. Ils se sont attaques a l'un des emblemes des Etats Unis : New York ,et sa fierte : Le World Trade Center.Un ideal que les gens de ce pays revent d atteindre.

Je crois qu' Osama Bin Laden et sa clique se sont trompes. Ils n' ont pas vu ces etres qui souffrent de ce vide,de cette course apres le temps,de ce rythme infernal dans lequel ils se sont enfermes generation apres generation; ces etres qui souffrent de se sentir separer les uns des autres, incapable de voir qu'ils partagent les meme peurs mais surtout le meme desir: celui de ressentir ce sentiment de plenitude qu'on appelle bonheur . Ils n'ont pas vu ces gens qui vivent ce bonheur, tous differements, selon leur histoire. Ou qui cherchent a se detruire comme pour mieux effacer ce vide ou qui sont insensibles de blesser leurs semblables ou qui cherchent a se remplir mais ne trouvent que de pales substituts: l'argent et ce qu'il procure. Comment sortir de cet engrenage,de ce piege creer par les generations precedentes et dans lequel nos parents nous ont propulse,eux meme incapable de changer ce qu'ils reprouvaient. Comment changer ce monde pour que nos enfants puissent gouter notre ultime aspiration?

Having troubles myself with my own daughter, in the scene where you see your father in the time machine just made me ball my eyes out in the theater. Doing charachters in movies I don't know if you can relate, but a good actor can make you cry. I have read some other comments about you in this forum, and besides the strange people of this world, I think there is alot of sincerity from people who admire you. I get sick when I hear of peoples property stolen , damaged , and even lives lost from such a preventable problem as car theft. I have looked at many vehicle security devices and there weakness, and endeavored to build a device that is easy to install and also user friendly, and very difficult to remove. I have built prototypes, and have used one on my vehicle for three years even in big cities, and always felt comfortable that my car would always be there where I parked it. I also installed one on an old truck in an auto wreaker and it took three big men 4min. 56 seconds to remove it, only by braking the floorboard because of too ridged a base. This has since been redesigned to be flexible. It was encouraging to see one person could not remove it. It is loose enough installed, that it cannot be cut with a hacksaw, since it is made with good strong steel. The lock cannot be frozen because it is incased with steel and a small air space. These men ! tried with hammers and feet to remove it and only exhausted themselves. Since joy rides and theft of vehicles for the purpose of committing a crime are the main reasons for general auto theft, I know this will be a very good and secure type of vehicle theft deterrent. I have a U.S. patent and applied for an international patent with the help of a company in Ireland, who have done up for me a confidential research report, on North America, and Europe and are at this time trying to find manufactures all around the world that would be interested in building this device that I call "Brake Lock. There is some simple electronics that serve as a trade mark, as well as takes care of the brake light problem. I recently have had interest from England and Illinois and hope to get a positive response from them. Auto theft is a huge problem everywhere. I know it will make a difference. But it will only make a difference if people will use it. Hello, First of all I'd like to say that I totally disagree with you turning down the roll of Clarice Starling in "Hannibal". I find it unfathomable that you would turn down the roll that essentially made you career back in 1991 for "Silence of the Lambs. I've read that your reason is that you found the movie too violent and gory. Well if you ask me the movie was neither violent or gory! C'etait un jeune homme, petit,disgracieux,bedonnant... reveur... Il ecrivait des poemes,construisait des avions de papier.Tous etaient destines a sa belle,tous pour toucher son coeur,comme si ces petits avions pouvaient l'atteindre... Jour apres jour,il s'exercait a plier ces petits bouts de papier,a en affiner la pointe dans l'espoir que celle-ci parviendrait a transpercer la carapace de son elue. Et ils plannaient,plannaient... portes par le vent,pour atterir en douceur,sans heurt,la ou sa belle aurait du etre mais n'etait pas. Il sentait son bras s'etirer en arriere,le petit papier serre delicatement entre ses doigts, comme un tresor,et lentement son bras s'allongeait,tandis que ces doigts se relachaient,son coeur decollant comme l'avion s'envolait,son espoir de la toucher "vole,vole jusqu'a elle...",ses bras se refermaient sur son corps,le serrant,revant a ses formes, sentant la brise carresser son visage ,effleurer ses bras comme son amante le ferait... Et lentement il ondulait comme le petit avion tourbillonnait, tourbillonnait... Fermant les yeux,degustant ce precieux instant,volant a elle,a ses bras,a sa chaleur... Ouvrant les yeux il decouvrait son coeur coucher sur le sol,attendant d'etre recueilli de sa main...coeur solitaire parmi la multitude.

I think Jodie Foster is one of the best actresses in the world. I have watched her since her Disney days. I believe she is an honest person. I do believe she has made one of the biggest mistakes a parent could make though. A child needs to have 2 parents. I'm divorced and believe that my kids need both of us. Even though my ex and I don't always agree we still have a good working relationship when it comes to the kids. A child needs a father just as much as a mother.

Hello Ms Foster, I open this mail formally out of respect although i must admit, it is really strange because I like most of the people who respect you as a artist, have never met you but still have known you for a very long time. Anna un der König ist ein Film, der von gut überlegter Fesselungstaktik geprägt ist und einen sehr stark an die alten asiatischen Kulturen erinnert! Ich sah ihn mir sofort am deutschen Bundesstart dem 27. Januar 2000 an! Mit meinen 14 Jahren kann ich sicherlich nachvollziehen, was in ihnen, liebe Mrs Foster während der Dreharbeiten vorging. Dear Jodie, I was so touched by Anna and the King. I think you did an incredible job! The film really opened my heart to the culture and people of Siam. It was a wonderfully uplifting movie.
